Professor Tom Kirkwood, Director of the Institute of Ageing and Health (IAH), Newcastle University, has been appointed CBE for services to Medical Science in the New Year Honours list.
The University of Liverpool maintains a collection of databases and tools entitled the Human Ageing Genomic Resources (HAGR). Its two centrepieces are GenAge, a database of genes associated with ageing in different organisms and systems, and AnAge, a database of ageing and longevity in animals.
The Mortality Research Scoping Group of the Actuarial Profession are planning to hold a two day conference in Edinburgh, Scotland in October 2009 and are currently seeking abstracts from all professions to either speak or present a poster at the conference.
